Congress oversees the Medicare program, including how your doctor is reimbursed for the cost of care you receive. For several years, Congress has agreed that the system under which your doctor is reimbursed is no longer working - but they have not fixed it. As a result, many doctors, including your cardiologist are losing money by treating Medicare patients.
Additional cuts to Medicare reimbursement are scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2012 and could negatively affect your access to high quality, cost-effective cardiovascular services if Congress does not act NOW. Help us avoid this outcome by contacting your elected officials and urge them to refrain from implementing policies and payment cuts that undermine the efforts to improve outcomes and help curb rising health care costs.
