Radiofrequency Ablation
Radiofrequency Ablation is a non-surgical procedure used to treat certain types of arrhythmias such as supraventricular tachyarrhythmias which are rapid, irregular heartbeats that take place in the heart's upper chambers.
This procedure is normally done by using a catheter with an electrode on the tip. The catheter is directed to the cells within the heart where the electrical signals originate, the cells that stimulate the abnormal heart rhythm Radiofrequency energy is used to cauterize the abnormal muscle tissue which will stop the region from conducting the electrical irregularities that caused the arrhythmia.
