Tilt Table Tests
A tilt table test is used to assist a doctor in determining the source severe lightheadedness or syncope (fainting) in a patient. The test consists of having the patient strapped to a pivoting table that will be tilted to an upright position.
The patient's pulse, blood pressure, EKG, and sometimes blood oxygen saturation is monitored throughout the test. This test assesses if the patient's fainting spells are caused by an unexpected drop in blood pressure.
